Gorgeous Wedding in the California Redwoods

When Rachel and JR first reached out and started sharing their wedding plans with me, I was SO excited. Their wedding took place at the Odd Fellows Recreation Club, a beautiful camping oasis tucked into their redwoods along the Russian River. This venue was so unique because they don’t typically host events like weddings. But the Odd Fellows Recreation Club holds a special place in Rachel’s heart. She and her family are longtime members and have been camping there ever since she was little. The club is filled with so many memories for Rachel and her family. When I visited the club for a venue walkthrough with Rachel and JR, Rachel told me that she always knew this would be the place that she would get married. Ever since she was little, she knew, “One day, I am going to get married here.”

Fast forward to October of 2022 and here we are, Rachel and JR’s wedding day. I know I have said it countless times before, but the getting ready portion of the day really is one of my favorites. Rachel and JR booked a GIANT and beautiful Air BnB in Guerneville that housed almost their entire wedding party. The house was buzzing with anticipation. The girls were sequestered in a room, blaring music and getting ready while the guys leisurely took their time, enjoying the sunshine outdoors. Everyone was so excited for Rachel and JR and couldn’t wait to celebrate them both.

Their ceremony was sweet and emotional. I have to admit…I may have teared up…more than once. When you see JR’s face seeing Rachel for the first time, you’ll understand why! The wedding continued on just as perfectly as it had begun; dining and dancing in the redwoods. At the end of it all, I am just so grateful to have met these two wonderful humans. Getting to celebrate alongside them and to share in the joy was a gift.
