From the moment I sat down with Paul and Madeline over a glass of wine to chat about their wedding day, I knew it was going to be special. Now let me tell you, my gut feeling was right. Their wedding day was nothing short of magical – a day where joy and love seamlessly intertwined. Their wedding took place at The Haven in Tomales; a unique and intimate venue tucked into the farmlands of West Marin. The bright blue sky and rolling hills made for the most stunning backdrop as they shared their vows in front of their family and friends. Below is an excerpt from each of their vows.
“Darling,
“I knew I first liked you when you recommended to me what is still one of my favorite books. We had just started working together and I knew if nothing else, you would be a very close friend of mine.
I knew I wanted to marry you when you set up card games over FaceTime, and flipped for the two of us while I was in the hospital, something that would become an excruciating monthly routine of ours for quite some time. You have witnessed me at my most painful, vulnerable, and weakest moments, yet still continue to choose me even when I don’t always want to choose myself.
Your awareness of your environment and your presence in it is genuinely profound. You take up space, but you always invite others to do the same. You are this warmth in my life that I can’t imagine living without. You walk into rooms and make them infinitely brighter without casting shadows; everyone is lighter in your company.
In health and happiness, in sickness and in health, we have shared many years comprised of an astounding amount of complex and beautiful moments together. You continually remind me of my resilience, encourage me to remain steadfast in my values, and with infinite patience and support, remind me to trust the process.
You have been there for me when I couldn’t be there for myself and I am thankful for everything you are and choose to be.
You have loved me for who I’ve been, who I am, and who I aim to be; I vow to do the same.
I love you, for always.”

“Hello, we made it!
Looking back, I’m trying to figure out how I managed to land you. Was it me constantly spraying you with a hose as my feeble attempt to flirt? Or was it my godly skills on the bocce ball court during bocce league at Campo Fina? Or was it the time we snuck out on the ATV after work and rode off into the sunset dangerously fast, you clinging to my back, hair whipping in the wind, like something out of a movie? That had to have been it…but whatever it was, judging by where we are standing right now, I think it worked out pretty well.
Madeline Rose, these past 7 years have been the best years of my life. As long as we are together, we are home, we are safe.
I vow to always be your stone in the river. When life gets hard and when life gets crazy, you can always count on me your stone, forever calm, forever supporting, and forever smooth.
I vow to always support the woman you are today, the wife you’ll be tomorrow and the woman you hope to become.
Madeline Rose, I love you. You are my forever home and I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with you in it.”
